An Alaskan Disney Cruise with "Maleficent"
|
Client's Code Name - Maleficent When was your Disney vacation? May 2011 |
How far in advance did you start planning for your trip? What was the planning process like - stressful, simple, overwhelming? In what way was your DVP able to assist you with the planning stage?
I think I started planning back in January. It is always stressful, I wanted to go to Disney World, the hubby wanted to go to Alaska. So when I saw DCL now offers Alaska we compromised. I got Disney, he got Alaska and the kids didn't care. My DVP was able to help get me the deal I saw on the DCL website and it was even better with the kids sail free deal.
Was this your first Disney Cruise?
Yes, it was actually our first cruise ever! I am so glad I chose DCL and Amanda to help us out.
How did you tell your family about the trip? Was it a surprise?
Nope, no surprises this time. Luckily my 5 yr old doesn't understand the concept of time. He just wanted to go on the "Mickey boat".
Which Disney Ship did you sail on? What did you think of the ship?
We were on the Wonder, such a beautiful boat! We were on deck 6 and got lucky enough to get a verandah. Very nice! I highly reccomend it. And I dont think I will cruise with any other cruise line. Disney was wonderful.
What are your family's favorite Disney characters? Did you have interactions with them while on vacation?
Me, I LOVE Donald and Capt. Jack Sparrow, not to mention Maleficent. My 5 year old and hubby like Mickey. And the 1 1/2 yr old doesn't really have a favorite yet. We did have a character breakfast - without Donald but we got Mickey so the kids were happy. And we did actually get to see and take a picture with Capt. Jack Sparrow on pirate night.
What restaurants did you dine at?
For dinner we had the rotating restaurants - Tritons, Parrot Cay, and the Animator's Palate. We loved them all but I loved the show at Animator's Palate. Otherwise we ate at the buffet and the snack places. Next time I will be trying the Palo, and maybe more of the shows, I only got to see the new Pirates movie.
What was your family's part of the ship? And why?
My 5 year old, Jacob, LOVED the Oceanears Club & never wanted to leave. He kept wanting to go on the "pirate slide". The 1 1/2 yr old, Samuel, got to play in Flounders Reef - so he had some play time too.
What was the greatest advantage of booking your vacation with a Disney Vacation Planner?
I didn't have to worry about a thing. If I had a question you had an answer or found the answer for me, it was great.
Share one moment during your vacation that will always be a favorite memory.
Probably the best time, when both kids behaved, was at the character breakfast. They were so excited and to watch their faces light up and to get pictures of it, priceless.
If you had a funny moment during your trip where you could not stopping laughing, please share.
I think the real funny moment we had was during the character breakfast the servers made us all napkin hats. I got a Daisy, or Minnie, bow. The boys got a Peter Pan hat and someone else at our table got Goofy ears. Everyone was laughing and having a great time.
What was one thing that really surprised you during your vacation?
Everyone on the ship was so friendly, but the 2 castmembers that stand out the most were Brian our "room" guy and Luis one of our servers. They were both wonderful and greeted every one of us by name and went out of their way to learn the boys' names.
Did you or anyone in your family have 'tears of joy' during your trip? Share the details.
I think Jacob did. He had seen the boat on the website for so long he got all excited to actually "see" it and to go on it.
Did you go through Disney withdrawals when you returned home? What was the best remedy?
Of course! Just start mentally planning the next trip...LOL
Have you started planning your next Disney vacation? What will you do differently next time?
Of course, my hubby wants to do it again in 2 years, especially since the new port for Alaska is out of Seattle. That will be a much shorter drive time. Me - I still want to see Disney World and one day I'll get there. Next time I will know how a cruise works and where everything is. It will be much smoother.
