How far in advance did you start planning for your trip? What was the planning process like - stressful, simple, overwhelming? In what way did your DVP assist you with the planning stage?
We started planning at 18 months out! This was a very special Disney vacation though, it was our Wedding!I had followed Lisa R on her planning journal and fell in love with her Disney Cruise wedding...when I found out she was a travel agent this was the best news ever! Lisa has helped me through not only the booking of the hotels/cruise/wedding she was a great personal support. We booked our wedding when we booked the cruise, that easy and simple! We then were told the date all our money would be due and were off and running on planning our very magical wedding.
How did you tell your family about the trip? Was it a surprise?
I actually sent out passport invitations to everyone who was invited to our engagement party. We had 16 guests total for our wedding, and then after the cruise we went to Disney for 10 days! Only my immediate family and Uncle came for 4 days after the wedding and they had a very good time as well in Walt Disney World.
Which Disney ship did you sail on? What did you think of the ship?
The Disney Dream - wonderful cruise! I have been on two other cruise lines and this was by far my favorite! We were all adults with one child traveling with us, we loved the fact that you could bring your own liquor on the ship! Our cabins were much more spacious then other cruise lines and the staff was incredible! Our wedding planner was amazing too. He really helped my wedding go off with no issues.
Before the cruise -
Pop Century- This is a value resort, it definitely seemed like a resort I would not mind taking kids to as it was very kid friendly. We stayed there the night before the cruise and took private transportation to the ship.
After the cruise -
Old Key West- The one bedroom villa we had was spacious but dated. We were not impressed with this resort and felt the staff was not as accommodating as Pop Century. A big thing to remember is this resort is three stories up (with no elevators) and a huge property!
What are your family's favorite Disney characters? Did you have interactions with them while on vacation?
We love Mickey and had pictures with him as much as possible! We enjoyed having Minnie put our wedding rings on her nose. The picture came out amazing!
While in Walt Disney World we attended the Disney Visa card holder meet and greet where we were able to take pictures with the characters and it was free. That was great and the line was really not that bad!
What restaurants did you dine at?
Too many to count as we did the Dining Plan and would do it again! Some of my faves are The Tusker House (we did the breakfast buffet it was awesome). Ohana was hands down THE BEST. We did our rehearsal dinner there and had an amazing time! Disney gave us front row seats (against the glass in the corner) where we could sit and see the fireworks (Wishes) and had the music piped into the restaurant! My family was SO impressed...what a way to start a vacation!
What was your family's favorite ride or attraction? And why?
We loved all the shows. I especially liked the Nemo show. We love the Haunted Mansion! I really hope to get a picture with the "ghost" that sits next to you on the bench from the Photopass personal that walk around. They were not there when we were there for our wedding :(
What was the greatest advantage of booking your vacation with your personal DVP? Please be sure to list their name if you'd like.
Working with Lisa R was the best decision I ever made! The service she provided was beyond any gratitude I could express. Planning a wedding can be very stressful and having Lisa to bounce ideas off of was priceless. Lisa worked with my guests to get them not only signed up for the cruise and hotel she also made sure that everything was set up for the wedding! She also helped to book our wedding dinner which we did an upgraded dinner the night of the wedding in Palo on the Dream....delicious!
Share one moment during your vacation that will always be a favorite memory.
Well, I have to say - my wedding! Being married on Castaway Cay was a dream come true...to hear my husband say I do and the waves coming in gently on the shore...I cannot wait to renew our vows! :)
If you had a funny moment during your trip where you could not stopping laughing, please share.
We made wonderful memories on the ship but the best laughing moment was the flurry of activity trying to get on the ship with ALL our items in tow - my wedding dress, two carry ons, our photography bag...it was hairy to say the least. We got on the ship before everyone else to meet with our wedding coordinator and I look at my husband to be and said, "You have the camera bag right?" The look of panic on his eyes as he ran out to get the bag he left! Our very expensive camera was recovered but not before I looked at the wedding coordinator in disbelief - this is how we are starting our vacation? The wedding coordinator took it in stride and de-stressed me immediately....thank goodness for the great Disney staff!
Did you or anyone in your family have 'tears of joy' during your trip? Share the details.
The staff members went above and beyond in the parks for us! One staff member ran up to us in Epcot and said, "Mickey and Minnie need to speak with you, right now!" We followed him in the store and sure enough Mickey and Minnie were on the phone wishing us a wonderful and happy life together...I honestly walked out shaking from all the excitement from the cast member and the clapping guests all around :)

Our wedding! Definitely a beautiful ceremony...
Did you go through Disney withdrawals when you returned home? What was the best remedy?
Oh yes, that is why we are planning our next Disney vacation for our one year anniversary!
Have you started planning your next Disney vacation? What will you do differently next time?
