Disney Dream - Stateroom Review
_by Sabrina S - DVP
My son and I sailed on the Disney Dream earlier this year and we both enjoyed ourselves immensely. One of the highlights for me on this new ship was definitely our stateroom. I was lucky enough to be able to choose our ocean view stateroom upon booking our cruise and I chose this particular stateroom because of the interesting location on Deck 2. Our stateroom number was 2056. The location turned out to be just as fantastic as I’d hoped, just outside Enchanted Garden, right near a “secret” staircase up to the main lobby and Royal Palace, and very close to the mid-ship elevators. The stateroom is close enough to everything to be very convenient, but out of the way enough to avoid the congestion of Enchanted Garden and the elevators. Plus we were towards the end of the hall so there was hardly any corridor traffic. Navigating the Dream was confusing at times, but we quickly learned the shortcuts near our stateroom. |

Having sailed on both the Wonder and the Magic, I was excited to see the differences in the staterooms on the newest Disney ship. I was prepared for a smaller stateroom, however any size difference was imperceptible to us. The fabrics were more plush, from the curtains to the couch, and the bed was really updated with the padded headboard and the built in nightstands, not to mention the mattress and bedding - it was much more comfortable than either of the older ships had been. The furniture in the room was also updated, allowing for more storage space both in the room and in the closets. We could really unpack in this stateroom! Whereas on our previous cruises we just had all of my things in one cupboard and all of my son’s things in another, this time we could actually separate our clothing by function into drawers, which is much neater than going through a stack of clothes to find a pair of shorts on the bottom. The bed was raised so that suitcases could slide underneath which really helped free up space in the closet. The “coffee table” in front of the couch was also a storage cube, which came in handy to stow our beach gear out of the way. Another nice touch was that the curtains did not close in the middle, they slide all the way to one side to close - this might not seem like a big deal, but when the sun streams in through that tiny crack in the curtains and wakes you up way too early on a vacation it isn’t too pleasant. Disney solved yet another minor stateroom inconvenience on the Dream! Overall the stateroom felt a lot more spacious because of the slight changes to the furnishings and layout of the room, even though the total square footage was less than on the Wonder and Magic.

_The split bathrooms are still one of my favorite features on
the Disney Cruise Line - the two of us can get ready at the same time so we
have more time to spend having fun on our cruise and less time waiting for the
bathroom. The bathroom with the toilet and sink was a bit smaller than on the
older ships, but other than that, updated tile work, and the addition of some
shelving, the bathrooms were pretty much the same, which suited me just fine.
Our stateroom was impeccably clean the entire trip; our stateroom host did a wonderful job keeping everything clean and fresh. Our beds were turned down each evening and we had a cute towel creature each night of our cruise. Disney is really the best of the best when it comes to service and cleanliness; I am more impressed each time I sail with them. In conclusion, our stateroom on the Dream offered the perfect balance of familiarity and enhancement, convenience and luxury. I couldn’t have asked for a better “home” during our cruise!
