Planning a Romantic Walt Disney World® Resort Getaway
by DVP Caitlyn L
A romantic getaway to the Walt Disney World Resort, is a little different than a regular vacation. How so you ask? Well, let me tell you.
Planning a romantic getaway to Disney can be done and has been done by many people. My husband and I spent 10 days at Walt Disney World in January 2010, on a delayed Honeymoon for our first Wedding Anniversary. If you want a truly romantic trip, you need to consider where you are staying, where you want to dine, and what you want to do while you are there. Believe it or not it’s okay to go to Disney and not get up at the crack of dawn and stay in the parks until they close. It’s okay to sleep in, and it's okay to not go to a park at all. I hear some of you gasping in horror, but stick with me; I promise it will be okay.
Here are my suggestions for a romantic getaway.
Hotel: I would suggest staying away from the Value Resorts (but if you can only afford a Value, stick with Disney’s Pop Century Resort). In my opinion the most romantic Moderate Resort is Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter. I would suggest requesting a room with a water view. If you want to spring for a Deluxe resort or a DVC Resort, you have many, many choices for a romantic stay. My personal favorites are Disney’s Boardwalk and the Villas at the Wilderness Lodge.
Dining: Now here you have many options. You do not have to break the bank to have a romantic dinner at Walt Disney World. You may ask, won’t there be kids everywhere? Well of course there will be, it is Disney after all. However, if you choose meal times later than the average dinner hour, then you will have fewer kids around. Here are my suggestions for romantic dinner locations.

Activities: There are many things that you can do at Walt Disney World that are romantic. Here are some examples;
There are many other things that you can do to make a trip romantic to you. All it takes is a little bit of research. My husband and I had a very romantic trip, and it was the little things like watching the Magic Kingdom from our Balcony at Disney’s Bay Lake Tower with a glass of wine.
I will leave you with this…. Don’t think you have to spend a fortune to make even a short trip romantic, do a little research and you are good to go.
