Fun Facts About Me
What would you name the autobiography of your life?
“Things Didn’t Go as Planned...and that is OK!” If you could live anywhere, where would it be and why? My husband and I dream of living somewhere in between Anna Maria Island, Florida and Sanibel Island, Florida. There is an area that we drive by each year when we visit family that has water that is crystal clear and is calling for an umbrella and a book! Really anywhere closer than 10-15 hours away from the Gulf would be ok! What is one thing that you wish you would great at (but you’re not…)? Running. I would like to run, the idea of running sounds great, running in a Princess Marathon is appealing, but it just doesn’t work for me. What is your favorite TV show of all time - you've seen them all, can watch it over and over again and quote lines from it? I hate to even admit this because I used to complain to my Dad about this show, but I love Seinfeld. We own all seasons on DVD and I often quote lines from the show. We have seen him live too. Right now I love Downton Abbey. It sucks me in and I get attached to the characters! Are you a morning or night person? Morning! I like to be up before my family to have some quiet time, write in my journal, and a few minutes peace before the day really starts! What's your favorite color? Green...like the color of healthy grass. Oddly, I do not have one green room in our home! Growing up, what was your dream job? When my friends and I would play “house” when I was really young, I would always pretend to be a teacher and a Mom. As I grew up, those dreams stuck! I became a teacher and taught in a public school for 11 years before I quit my day job to homeschool our children. So basically I’m doing both of my childhood dreams all day, everyday now! What's your favorite thing to do on a Sunday afternoon? There is nothing quite like a Sunday afternoon nap! It doesn’t feel quite the same any other day of the week! What is your favorite book? My family owns a book bindery and has since before I was born. I literally grew up surrounded by books! I love books and I tend to collect them as well, but I do have a few favorites. The Bible is top...the book of James is my absolute favorite...so much life advice in there. My favorite book from my childhood is Bridge to Terabithia, but Holes is a close second to that! As an adult, I could read The Help or Moloka’i over and over. All time favorite ever fiction book….The Princess Bride. If you have seen the movie, you must read the book! Where were you born? Born, raised, and continue to live in central Illinois. We have all 4 distinct seasons in Illinois, which I love! Fall is my favorite! We also have a lot of corn, beans, wheat, and flat land. My great-grandmother lived in Virginia at the foot of a mountain, when she would come to Illinois she would say that there was nothing to rest your eyes upon...she was right! |
Sarah’s love of all things Disney started at a young age when she made her first trip at 7 years old. Growing up she had a Mickey Mouse themed bathroom, her first car had license plates that said “WT DSNY,” and she wrote 2 term papers on Walt Disney and the creation of his company.
Sarah is a mom to 2 miracle children whom she homeschools each day. Married to her high school sweetheart, Philip, for 12 years, they make their home in the same small town where they fell in love and are now raising their children. She loves to read, quilt, garden, and cook, but really only has time for the last one as the people in her home are hungry all the time! Her family is very active in their church where she leads a life group and her children are involved in several activities. When they have spare time, her family likes to bike, play basketball, and walk their 2 dogs. Even though they love their small town, Sarah and her family LOVE to travel and she is always planning their next trip. One of their favorite things about homeschooling is the flexibility it allows their family to travel at different times of the year. No matter what the trip, she always tries to incorporate a stop at Disney somehow! Disney Q&A
Who is your favorite Disney character?
Mickey Mouse! I have to meet him and get a picture if he is available! Belle is my favorite princess because she loves books! How old were you were you first visited Walt Disney World? I was 7 when I first visited Walt Disney World. We were on a Make-A-Wish trip for my sister who was very sick. Some of my best memories of that time in our life happened there. For a week, we forgot all about cancer and hospitals, and could just be a normal family making magical memories. What is your favorite Disney attraction or show? Carousel of Progress at Magic Kingdom. I just love that it is a vintage attraction. I don’t even care that it hasn’t been updated! I sing the song throughout the show. My family humors me and we usually have to do it twice! What’s your favorite special event at a Disney park? Christmas at Disney is so magical! My favorite is the Osborne Family Spectacle of Lights. When they play Trans Siberian Orchestra’s Carol of the Bells and the “snow” falls from the sky in Florida...it doesn’t get more magical than that. I may or may not have cried a time or two! What do you do first when you board a Disney Cruise – pool or lunch? Absolutely lunch! Isn’t eating one of the best parts of a cruise? We often cruise with my in-laws. My father-in-law and my son don’t miss a meal the whole cruise! What's the one thing that you have to take home from your Disney trip? A dated Disney Christmas ornament. We have a separate Christmas tree in our home that is devoted to Disney ornaments only! I also always get a new Disney watch...I have a collection of these as well and only one that has a working battery! |
