If you had to change your first name, what would you change it to?
I really like my name, but if I had to change it, I would probably choose a name that is easy to pronounce and spell What is your biggest food weakness? Sweets If you could live anywhere, where would it be and why? Anywhere tropical with a beautiful beach and crystal blue water. Are you a morning or night person? Definitely a night person. I can get so much stuff done since there are not as many distractions. What's your favorite color? I think my favorite color changes depending on my mood. Some days I love greens, and other days I love pinks and blues. Growing up, what was your dream job? I really wanted to be a Marine Biologist or to work with dolphins. I love the water, and I am fascinated by sea creatures. Since I had several dreams, I settled for my other loves…working with kids and being creative, so I became a teacher. Bungee jump or sky dive? Neither… Scuba diving! Summer or winter? Summer…I love the sunshine, warm weather, swimming, and tropical destinations. What makes it even better is that my kids are out of school! Where were you born? New Orleans, LA Are you the oldest, youngest, middle or only child? It’s just my sister and I, and I’m the oldest!

Born and raised in New Orleans, Shanna currently resides on the Northshore of Lake Pontchartrain with her family. Even though Shanna and her husband went to the same high school, they didn’t actually meet until college years. Fast forward almost two decades and 3 children later, life is non-stop.
While taking a break from her career as a teacher, Shanna decided to spend some time as a stay-at-home mom with her son and two daughters. Once all 3 children became school age, it was time for Shanna to return to work. Even though working in the education field was her first love, she chose to become a Dream Vacation Planner. Not only does this career allow her the flexibility to continue to do everything that she enjoys doing with her children, but it also allowed her to collaborate with precious families to help make their vacations magical and memorable. Most of Shanna’s weekends involve spending time at the baseball/softball field, football field, soccer field or basketball court. She wouldn’t have it any other way. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, boating, volunteering at schools, doing embroidery or monogramming projects, and of course, taking vacations. Family time is most important to Shanna and her husband, and taking family vacations together is a top priority for them every year. Shanna’s love for Disney began at a very early age, and has only grown over the years. Walt Disney World is always a vacation of choice for her family, and Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is top on the “must-do” list every year. Even though Shanna and her family are “Disney” through and through, they also enjoy spending time in “real Florida” (as her kids call it), which is a beach vacation where they spend much of their time boating, swimming, and doing water-sports. The year is just not complete unless her family spends a couple of weeks in Florida! Shanna’s passion for vacations has been instilled in her children (and husband), and they are always looking forward to and talking about their next family adventure! What is one guilty pleasure that you have to indulge in each time you visit Walt Disney World?
Dole Whip Float! Whether I get one in Adventureland in Magic Kingdom or at the Polynesian Resort, it is the one snack that I “need” to have when we visit Walt Disney World! Who is your favorite Disney character? Rapunzel How old were you when you first visited Walt Disney World? I was 9 when I went to Walt Disney World for the first time. Since then, I have been so many times that I have really lost count. We’ve been annual passholders, and we try to get to Disney as much as possible. It just doesn’t feel right if a year passes by and we haven’t made a trip to Orlando. Disney is just a part of our family, and our kids have grown up loving every bit of it If you had to choose one Disney destination to visit this year, which would it be – Disneyland, Disney World, or a Disney Cruise? Disney Cruise! It gives you the best of both worlds…Disney and a tropical vacation. What’s your favorite special event at a Disney park? My absolute favorite event is Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in Walt Disney World. We have been numerous times, and Halloween just doesn’t feel complete unless we have gone Trick-or-Treating in Magic Kingdom. I love everything about it…the atmosphere, the parade (the Headless Horseman), trick-or-treating, the dance parties, the shows…I could go on! Just makes me look forward to the next one. What's the one thing that you have to take home from your Disney trip? I love my photos and my Christmas ornaments. I purchase the Memory Maker for every trip. It helps document my vacation, and it also proves that I was there (since I am always behind the camera…with the exception of the occasional selfie). I also must take home a Christmas Ornament. I collect ornaments from all our vacations. Our Christmas tree is decorated with memories. Whether it is family vacations or special ornaments that our kids have made, each item placed on our tree has a special meaning or memory tied to it.

Why are your services free?
Pixie and Pirate Destinations, nor myself, ever charges our clients anything for our services. I am paid commission from the companies I book vacations with - Disney, Universal Vacations, Norwegian Cruise Lines, etc. You will pay the same amount of money booking a trip with me as you would if you booked it directly through the company itself. And sometimes I am able to find a better deal because of the special promotions that are available. A reservation transfer may be an option if you have already booked a vacation. As a Dream Vacation Planner (DVP) I work strictly off of commission and I hope that if you decide to book a vacation you will choose to book your vacation with me. Please keep this in mind if I do a lot of research on a vacation for you. Regardless of the number of hours I put toward helping a client plan, I am not paid hourly, Why should I book my vacation with you and Pixie and Pirate Destinations? I have an honest passion for Disney and the Disney destinations. And my Disney knowledge is up to date since this is my career. I have guidelines to follow that are put in place by Pixie and Pirate Destinations. I have been trained to provide you with the best customer service in the industry. And I am willing to work "with" you in planning your vacation. At Pixie and Pirate Destinations our motto is "go above and beyond for each client's individual needs." As a valued client, I will be here every step of the way to help you with your concerns or questions. You will have an email address and phone number where you can reach me when you need to. Once your vacation is booked I will continue to help with dining reservations, a personalized daily itinerary, an updated personal web page where you can track your reservation and more. I am here to see you through to the end of your vacation to make sure you have a magical time. What is the first step? The first step in the vacation planning process is to request a quote for your desired Disney destination. When you request a quote you have the option of choosing me as you DVP - so please be sure to click on my name or add it into the comments. Once I have your quote request I will listen to your needs and expectations, and guide you through the best options for your family. How do I pay for my vacation? To process deposits and payments for your vacation I will need your address, phone number and credit card information. I can either schedule a phone call for you to give this information over the phone, or you can use our secure website to submit for a payment. Pixie and Pirate Destinations, nor myself, will EVER personally make a charge to your credit card. You will see a charge from the Walt Disney Travel Company (or another travel vendor such as Universal Travel, Norwegian Cruise Lines, etc.). I use your card information to process your deposit or payment directly through the travel vendor (Disney, etc.). And your CC information will always be kept private. If you ever see a charge that you think is fraudulent contact your credit card company immediately. |
What will you do for me that I cannot do for myself?
Of course you can book a Disney vacation on your own - that's easy! But when you book a Disney vacation with me you have my knowledge and experience to tap into at your disposal. You will be working with someone who "knows" Disney and understands how Disney travel can change minute to minute. Because of this you can be assured that I will be able to guide you in the right direction at all times. If I do not know the answer immediately, I WILL find it out.
