How far in advance did you start planning for your trip? What was the planning process like - stressful, simple, overwhelming? In what way did your DVP assist you with the planning stage?
I booked the trip in January 2011 and started planning right away. The planning process for me is fun and easy especially when you have an awesome Pixie/Pirate helping you along the way. My DVP helped with different suggestions for resorts, dining, ways to surprise my daughter about the trip, and many other things.
How did you tell your family about the trip? Was it a surprise?
I told my 6 year old daughter about the trip about 1 hour before we left. I had made her a t shirt that said "I'm going to Disney today." When she read the shirt, the expression on her face was priceless. We had the most amazing trip!
Which Disney Resort/Ship did you stay at? What did you think of the resort/ship?
We stayed at the Pop Century resort. It has a really fun atmosphere and great themes. We would stay there again. This was our 2nd time staying there.
What are your family's favorite Disney characters? Did you have interactions with them while on vacation?
Mickey, Minnie and the gang of course. Then Lilo and Stitch, Rapunzle, Princess Tiana and Captain Hook. We did get to see all of them except Captain Hook. All of the characters were great and took their time with each child.
What restaurants did you dine at?
Captain Jacks, Garden Grill, Coral reef, Hollywood and Vine, O'Hana, Sci - Fi cafe, Cinderellas Royal table, Tusker House. I made the choices myself and the only 1 we wouldn't dine at again would be Captain Jacks, the food was warm not hot, it was loud in there and it smelled like fish!
What was your family's favorite ride or attraction? And why?
Expedition Everest was my daughter's, she loves anything fast and scary. For myself its the Dumbo ride, it has been a favourite movie of mine since a child and I always have to make sure to go on this one.
What was the greatest advantage of booking your vacation with your personal DVP? Please be sure to list their name if you'd like.
The greatest advantage was that Amanda would do all the work, she got us the best rate and would continue to watch for better deals or offers. This was amazing, I love a deal and having her do it meant I got more time to plan the fun things. It was also nice to have a Disney expert there to help plan and let you know about all the hidden Gems of Disney World.
Share one moment during your vacation that will always be a favorite memory.
It's hard to narrow it down to one, I think my most favourite memory would be seeing my daughter laughing at me on Expedition to Everest because I was screaming and laughing so hard. It was amazing to just let loose and have fun on the rides. The other one would be meeting Rapunzel, the look of awe and joy on her face when we met her for the first time was awesome.
If you had a funny moment during your trip where you could not stopping laughing, please share.
We had lots, I think the funniest one was when Phineas started dancing around with her, then Ferb started shaking his booty. They were having such a fun time, that everyone was smiling. We also have a Phineas and Ferb stuck in our heads from that day, and when we sing it, it brings back those memories, and we start laughing all over again.
Did you or anyone in your family have 'tears of joy' during your trip? Share the details.
When I first told my daughter we were going, she screamed at first and then started tearing up from being so happy. For myself the tears came when we first met Mickey and Minnie, they are always special to me.
Did you go through Disney withdrawals when you returned home? What was the best remedy?
I still am, the best way to get through them is to replay parts of the trip over in your mind. Also looking thru the pictures is an awesome way to relive the magic.
Have you started planning your next Disney vacation? What will you do differently next time?
I have already looked into it a bit, I need to contact Amanda for another quote. I don't think there is much we will do differently next time, it was close to perfect.
