What Would a Pixie or Pirate Do?
"My girlfriend has never been to Disney World and I want to surprise her with a trip sometime next year. I may propose to her there too. If I decide to propose to her while on vacation, what's a good place to do it?"

First off Congratulations! Taking her to Disney World for the first time sounds like lots of fun. As for where to pop the big question, there are so many great possibilities. On my last trip we were luckily enough to get to experience a proposal at Turtle Talk with Crush. You can read all about it in my article - A Turtle, A Bikini and A Ring. Another idea might be taking a carriage ride at Port Orleans Riverside. The driver will stop halfway through and can present her with a glass slipper and you can ask your big question. The biggest thing is to consider her likes and things that are special to you as a couple. Does she like princesses? If so maybe get her favorite princess to help you. Is she a big pirate fan? A proposal on Pirates of the Caribbean might be a great idea. Did you take your first trip as a couple to another country or has she always wanted to visit a certain country? Popping the question in one of the countries in the World Showcase might be a good idea. Anyone can propose in front of the castle and while it will be nice it would mean a lot more if you pick a place that means something to her. Talk to your DVP to work out something really special. I hope you and your girlfriend have a lifetime of Happiness and Disney Magic!

What a wonderful idea. Having been proposed to myself while on vacation at Walt Disney World, I can tell you that the best place to do it, is where it feels right! My husband planned on asking me to marry him at the Wishing Well, near Cinderella Castle. Well his plans did not go as planned, he ended up asking me in our room at Pop Century. However, there are some great places to get down on one knee! In front of the Castle, during Wishes, or during a romantic meal at one of Disney's Signature Dining Locations. There is also the carriage rides at Disney's Port Orleans Riverside. These are just a few idea's. If you choose one of the more public locations, see if you can tip off on the Disney PhotoPass Photographers. Your soon to be wife will be forever grateful for the photos!

I am torn! I would love to be proposed to in front of the Castle in the Magic Kingdom. You could do it right after posing for Photopass pictures so it would be caught by the photographer. Another option that would be fabulous would be on a horse drawn carriage ride at either Fort Wilderness or Port Orleans. Honestly all of Disney World is so magical I can not think of a bad place you could pick!

Wow! Disney is a magical place to propose! Full of romance and excitement if you just look around. There are so many places to stay that add to the romance, like Port Orleans Riverside in the Mansion section or even their new Royal Rooms. My husband proposed to me while I was participating on the WDW College Program. While he didn't ask me on property, due to a comedy of errors, his plan was to get down on one knee in front of the castle. A little cliche, but awesome. Other great spots are on the beaches surrounding the Seven Seas Lagoon, during Wishes, the nightly fireworks at Magic Kingdom, during a meal in Cinderella's Castle...the list goes on. I suggest doing something unique and think of how your girlfriend would receive it. You don't want to do an over the top thing if she's not a showy person. Something as simple as asking the waiter at a dining location to assist with champagne or asking her during a moonlit walk on the grounds of your resort may be all she needs. Congratulations, and good luck!
